Steps to Obtaining a Florida Mortgage Broker License
Step 1. Meet the Department of Financial Services Requirements
Visit www.flofr.com/licensing or call 850-410-9500 to obtain an application and fingerprint card for licensure. You must submit your completed application with the proper fees by the 15th of the month prior to taking the exam. The exam is offered the fourth Tuesday of every month except November and December when it is the second Tuesday. You will be notified within 7 days of your examination date. The mortgage broker examination must be taken within 90 days of your submission of the application to the Department of Financial Services.
Step 2. Attend the Ed Klopfer Mortgage Broker Course
The 24 Hour State Approved Pre-license Course will prepare you for the State Exam. This course is offered on a Friday evening and over the weekend, usually the weekend prior to the exam. Click here or contact our courteous staff at 800-370-1570 for dates and times.
Step 3. Prepare for your State License Examination
The examination consists of 100 multiple-choice questions that must be completed within 3 hours. You must receive a passing score of 75% or greater on the state exam.
Exams are given in: St. Petersburg, Naples, Orlando, Ft. Lauderdale, Port St. Lucie, Tallahassee and Jacksonville.
